Library Curriculum Builder for Moodle

We are pleased to introduce Library Curriculum Builder!! It is a new plugin tool for Moodle that allows instructors to provide access to assigned class readings while maintaining copyright compliance by linking directly from a Moodle course to journal articles, ebooks, and other online resources in our library's databases.

To add the Library Curriculum Builder to your Moodle Course:

1. Log in to your Moodle course and turn editing on.

2. Add an activity, select "External tool" from the menu, then click "Add".

3. In the "General" section:
  • Name the activity (e.g., "Weekly Readings")
  • For external tool type, select Library Curriculum Builder
4. Click "Save and return to course" or "Save and display"

To add Readings to the Library Curriculum Builder:

1. Launch the Library Curriculum Builder in your Moodle course. A basic search box will appear that allows you to search by keyword, author, or title for resources to add to your reading list.

2. After you've located the resource you want to add, click the "Add to Reading List" button.

3. To review the readings you've selected, click the "See Current Reading List" link at the top of the page. This will also allow you to add notes for specific readings, sort the order in which the readings are listed, and add links to web resources.

All listed readings will be links that will take the students to a page with a detailed record of the resource. The full text will be linked on the left side of that page.
